A device for training eye-hand coordination as well as carrying out elements of visual training in children and adults with strabismus. The possibility of changing the rotational speed of the dial allows to adjust the difficulty level of the tasks to the current capabilities of the person exercising as well as to increase this level as the user makes progress. The rotator is equipped with specialised dials and a set of colourful pins. The dials with eccentric wheels allow to achieve the spatial vision impression even in case of persons with strabismus who do not have stereoscopic vision due to the attenuation of one of the eyes. The use of additional filters or prismatic glasses allows to do exercises relieving the strabismic eye as part of the eye therapy. The adjustable height of the dials and a variable angle of their inclination allow the persons of different heights to do the exercises. The rotator is easy to assemble and use. It takes up little space one it is disassembled, which facilitates its storage and transport.
The device is designed to exercise with children having both educational and graphomotor difficulties. The age group includes pre-school and school children. It can be used during both educational and therapeutic classes conducted at educational institutions as well as specialist and psychological-pedagogical counselling centres. The classes consist in using the device for exercises under the supervision of a specialist – a teacher, a pedagogical therapist or a SI therapist. The main task of the Rotator is to develop children's perceptive abilities, gross and fine motor skills, as well as to introduce, consolidate or develop contents included in the core curriculum. This device is used, among others, to improve and shape the operation of kinaesthetic sense as well as eye-hand coordination. It supports the development of kinaesthetic sense (proprioception) thanks to exercises directly influencing its development, i.e.
a) training the correct development of planning and motion reflexes, regulation of muscle tone and coordination of muscle work, as well as higher mental activities related to the body structure,
b) exercises requiring correct body stabilisation (exercises in various positions: sitting, lying and standing,
c) exercises shaping the finger dissociation skill
The Rotator constitutes an additional element of the classes and enriches them through a different activity form. It constitutes an attractive form of educational and graphomotor exercises. Children like working with this tool as it constitutes a form of reward for them in part or during the whole classes depending on the selected exercises and the aim pursued. The Rotator is equipped with specialised dials. The main dial with colourful geometrical figures contains a set of holes intended for static exercises with the use of colourful shoelaces and rubber bands as well as dynamic exercises with the use of colourful pins and rings. The dials with eccentric wheels are intended for spatial vision training and used to exercise the improvement of the accommodation of the eye as well as viewing the immobile point with the eye (eye fixation). The adjustable height of the dials as well as the angle of their inclination allow the children of different heights to do the exercises. The set includes a description of the exercises prepared by the pedagogical therapist.
